Description
I'm not going to bore you with all of the fluff, so this is what it looks like to work at Audiohook:
At Audiohook, our first core value is about getting results. We need someone who is committed to diving in and getting the job done. Sometimes that looks messy. Sometimes we sacrifice a little bit in code quality or finding the perfect architecture to get to a solution that works for our customers today. But we keep improving. Each time we touch the code, it gets better and better. Make it work, then make it right, then make it beautiful.
We also move fast. Not break-neck, burnout fast, but we need someone who knows how to read the docs and get things done without spending an entire week on it. We work on weekly "Cycles" (kind of like sprints, or kanban with a time box around it). Whatever you commit to doing during the Cycle gets done. You have control over what you commit to, but once you commit to it, you own it. If you need help to get it done, you ask for help. You're humbly confident, meaning you know what you know, but you're not afraid to take a suggestion or consider feedback from a junior engineer. You're open to learning from others and considering other perspectives. We have strong opinions, loosely held.
You're curious enough to have learned something about AI right now. We don't expect you to be an expert, but if you haven't experimented with coding using a GPT model, don't apply. If you haven't read at least a couple articles on prompt engineering and can speak intelligently about different strategies, don't apply.
This is a senior position, so if you have less than 5 yrs experience, you had better have built something so freaking amazing that we can't ignore you. If that's you, we'd love to talk. Make sure that you highlight that in your application so we see it. If that's not you, don't apply. These are minimum requirements.
Amazing tech skills and demonstrable mastery of problem solving skills are table stakes. Here's our tech stack:
The ideal candidate will know enough JavaScript to comment on Pull Requests and do some light work in the front-end. We use Vue.js, but would be fine if you've used Angular or React.
